Angela Latham (1894–1980) was a British post-impressionist painter celebrated for her bold use of colour and lyrical approach to form. A precocious talent, she entered Wolverhampton School of Art at 12 and later studied in Paris under Maurice Denis, absorbing the influence of the Nabis.
Following wartime service as a V.A.D. nurse, she exhibited widely from 1919 to 1933, including at the Royal Academy and the ROI. Her paintings often depict quiet domestic scenes, still lifes, and portraits with refined sensitivity.
During WWII, Latham served as an ARP warden from her Hampstead home, which doubled as a hub for artists and intellectuals. Though she exhibited less in later years, she continued painting into the 1960s. Her work is held in collections such as the Royal Academy of Music and has recently attracted renewed interest.
